The recent National Placement and Internship Awards adjudged University of Birmingham Careers Network as the Best University Careers/Placement Service.

These awards are run by RateMyPlacement.co.uk under the rmpawards.co.uk website. RMP was founded in 2007 by three university students who were unable to find a trusted source of information to help them research placement and internship opportunities. Today RateMyPlacement.co.uk receives over 1.2 million student visitors each year and is home to over 13,000 student reviews, each one rating and ranking placement and internship experiences at over 2,000 UK companies, allowing students to make better informed decisions when choosing which companies to apply to.

The Awards, sponsored by PwC and supported by like-minded thought leaders AGR, AGCAS and NASES, were attended by over 400 representatives from both the corporate and higher education world.

The event kicked off with insights into Effective and Innovative Engagement On-Campus, presented by On-Campus Promotions’ Ali Lindsay, Amber Jones and Charlotte Blake. Special Guest Speaker, Nick Holzherr then gave an inspirational speech into the challenges and successes achieved through his own work experiences; from setting up various start-ups at university, to launching his latest venture Whisk via The BBC’s Apprentice last year.

The Awards were presented by RMP co-founders Oliver Sidwell and Chris Wickson, with Enterprise Rent-A-Car taking home the Awards for Best Diversity in Work Experience and student Amy Brereton winning the coveted Best Placement Student Award.  The ceremony came to a close with the announcement of the Best Placement & Internship Employer, top secret until its public announcement at the event.
