Over the weekend, whilst doing some reading, I came across this excellent slideshare presentation by Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn. In this he discusses the 3 secrets of highly successful graduates. It is a 113-slide presentation, which can be read in less than 10 minutes, but gives amazing insight into what highly successful graduates have in common.
In this presentation Reid mentions the one common career concern of a lot of graduates: they don’t feel ready. He gives further insight on why this is OK and how in an ever-changing world of work, managing your career is a lifelong process.
There are at least three things that successful professionals eventually figure out about their careers and are applicable to highly successful graduates:
1. Competition
2. Networks
3. Risk
I think that this is one of the best presentations that graduates can have a look at. Take a step back and understand what highly successful graduates have in common – it will give you an idea of how to start managing your career.
The presentation on highly successful graduates doesn’t give you an answer to all your worries, but tells you how you can and should manage your career.
